French Navy warship arrives in Mumbai on a goodwill visit, conducts military exercises with Indian warship

Mumbai . The French Navy’s La Fayette frigate-class vessel Aconite was on a goodwill visit to Mumbai from October 28 to November 2 and participated in a military exercise with an Indian warship, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. ran away. The ship is commanded by Commander Jean-Bertrand Guyon and is one of the five La Fayette class frigates of the French Navy. The ship had earlier visited Visakhapatnam in 2015. French warship Chevalier Paul was also in Mumbai in November last year.

“During their stay in Mumbai, the ship’s crew had professional and social interactions with the personnel of the Indian Navy,” the ministry said. The visit culminated with an at sea exercise with a warship of the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy. Over the decades, cooperation between India and France in various areas related to defence has grown rapidly. The ministry said, “The current visit of FNS Aconit to Mumbai is a reflection of the growing cooperation between the two navies and their enhanced interoperability. With the shared interest of peace and stability in the region, the two navies are committed to working together towards that goal.”
