According to BJP sources, the party high command has directed several senior leaders and Union ministers to address public meetings in at least three assembly constituencies in a day.

BJP prepares for ‘Carpet Bombing’

The BJP has chalked out a strategy of ‘carpet bombing’ on 18 November in 89 constituencies of Gujarat with public meetings of Union ministers and state leaders. Union ministers, state leaders, assembly election candidates and other campaigners will hold public meetings in these constituencies to create an atmosphere in favor of the BJP in the Gujarat elections. It is being told that many central ministers including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Dharmendra Pradhan, Smriti Irani will hold meetings or public meetings in these constituencies. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state party president CR Patil will also address a gathering.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the longest serving Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.

AAP is the biggest challenge for BJP

Gujarat has been a bastion of the BJP for a long time and the party is trying to return to power with a huge majority this time too. However, this time the BJP is facing a tough electoral challenge from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has nominated Isudan Gadhvi as its chief ministerial candidate. At the same time, the Congress is also putting all its might to oust the BJP government of the state. There are a total of 182 assembly constituencies in Gujarat. This time voting will be held in Gujarat in two phases on 1st and 5th December and counting of votes will be done on 8th December.
