The outcome of Gujarat elections will decide what will be the future axis of opposition politics in the country. These results will also have a direct impact on the nature of opposition unity ahead of the 2024 general election. Opinion polls and all election surveys before the Gujarat assembly elections have claimed that the BJP will get majority in the state at present. At the same time, some surveys are also pointing towards the Aam Aadmi Party becoming the main opposition instead of Congress. The decision of which party comes to power in the state will be decided on December 8, before that let’s look at the results of some surveys that came before the announcement of the elections.
What the Times Now Opinion Poll of Navbharat says (Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 Opinion Poll)
According to the opinion poll of Times Now Navbharat-ETG, BJP can get 125 to 131 seats in Gujarat. After this, 29 to 33 seats can come in the account of Congress. At the same time, 18 to 22 seats can come in the account of Aam Aadmi Party, which is giving competition to these two. Others are expected to get 2 to 4 seats. According to opinion polls, Congress seems to be lagging behind AAP in terms of vote share in this election. Congress is expected to get 21 per cent vote share. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party seems to be getting 24 percent vote share, leaving Congress behind. Apart from these two parties, BJP is on top with 48 percent votes.
ABP-CVoter Survey Result
Gujarat has been ruled by BJP for more than two decades. The Aam Aadmi Party is making inroads in Gujarat, which has been dubbed as the ‘laboratory of Hindutva’. AAP has put all its might in these elections. AAP can make a big dent in the vote share of the main opposition Congress. However, the opinion polls that have come out so far are showing the return of BJP in the state. According to the survey conducted by ABP-C Voter in early October, BJP can get 135-143 seats. BJP’s vote share is expected to decrease. At the same time, giving a jolt to the Congress, AAP can make a dent in the vote share. However, AAP is not expected to get more than 2 seats.
CSDS-Lokniti survey result
The Lokniti-Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) in its survey sought the opinion of the people of Gujarat on the performance of the government in the last five years. Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said that they were satisfied (to some extent or completely) with the performance of the state government. The remaining one-third expressed dissatisfaction (in whole or in part) with the performance of the government. This time the number of people satisfied with the work of the government has increased by 11% as compared to the survey conducted at the time of 2017 assembly elections. Even the number of those who were completely satisfied with the performance of the government was only 8% in 2017 which has now increased to 31%. Under the BJP government, there has been development for all, only for the rich, or not at all – only three out of every 10 respondents said development has happened for all sections.
