Gujarat government’s big decision before assembly elections, announcement of relief package of 630 crores for farmers

Ahmedabad. The Gujarat government on Friday announced a package of Rs 630.4 crore for the farmers who have suffered losses due to heavy rains during monsoon in 14 districts. The state government has taken this step at a time when the date for the assembly elections to be held later this year can be announced anytime.

Officials said that the relief package was approved in the meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He said that this is expected to benefit about 8 lakh farmers of 2,554 villages in 14 districts.

Gujarat government announced relief package for farmers

Officials said that the package was announced in Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Panchmahal, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Tapi, Sur, RawDamage assessment has been done in Junagadh, Morbi, Porbandar, Anand and Kheda districts after survey.

According to an official release, compensation at the rate of Rs 6,800 per hectare for a maximum of two hectares will be given to those farmers whose crop has been damaged by 33 percent or more in the Kharif season. These do not include the banana crop.
