Bhavnagar. Alpesh Kathiria, a prominent community leader who was part of the Patidar reservation movement in Gujarat in 2015, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday. Assembly elections are due in Gujarat later this year. Alpesh joined the party during an election rally organized in Gariadhar town of Bhavnagar district in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Kathiria is the convener of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS). This committee had organized a state-wide agitation demanding Other Backward Class (OBC) status for the Patidar community and reservation in government jobs, educational institutions. Apart from Kathiriya, PAAS co-convenor Dharmik Malaviya and other members of the organization also joined AAP.

After joining the AAP, Kathiria while addressing the rally said, “We all have to come forward in this struggle for society, for our pride, for the country, for better education, health and corruption-free good governance.” Will happen. Your support is needed.”

Kejriwal praised
On this occasion, Kejriwal said, “I welcome Kathiria and Malviya to the Aam Aadmi Party. Both are youth leaders and the future of India is in the hands of the youth. He is a militant leader who fought a long battle for the rights of youth and went to jail.
