Gold medallist archer Harvinder Singh and sprinter Preeti Pal, the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals, will be India’s flag bearers at the closing ceremony of the Paris Games. Thirty-three-year-old Harvinder is the first Indian archer to win gold at the Paralympics. He won a bronze medal in Tokyo in 2021.

He said, “Winning a gold medal for India is like a dream come true. Now being the flag bearer of India in the closing ceremony is the biggest honour. This victory is for all those who believed in me. I hope I will be able to inspire many to fulfill their dreams.”

“It is a matter of pride to be the flag bearer of India. It is not just for me but for every para athlete who has overcome adversities and made the country proud,” said 23-year-old Preeti, who won bronze medals in the women’s T35 100m and 200m events.
