Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on Saturday on various issues. The meeting lasted for more than an hour.

The bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden concluded in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday. The meeting was held at Biden’s private residence in Greenville, Delaware. Biden welcomed PM Modi at his residence and the two leaders hugged each other. After this, Biden took Modi inside his house holding his hand. After the meeting, President Biden said that every time the two leaders meet, they find new areas of cooperation.

Welcoming PM Modi, President Biden said, “The partnership between the US and India is stronger, closer and more dynamic than ever in history.” After the meeting, Biden posted on the social media platform X and wrote, “Prime Minister Modi, every time we sit down, I am impressed by the potential of our cooperation. Today was no different in that regard.”

Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said after the meeting, “India-US are further advancing the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden held bilateral talks in Wilmington, Delaware today. Notably, this meeting was hosted by President Biden at his residence. The focus of the discussion was on further deepening the bilateral partnership. The two leaders also shared views on the Indo-Pacific region and other global and regional issues.” This meeting is considered important in terms of further strengthening relations between the two countries and identifying new cooperation possibilities.

The White House said that from the US delegation, Antony Blinken, Secretary of State Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, US Ambassador to India Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri were present in the meeting from the Indian delegation.

Earlier on Saturday, Joe Biden wrote on social media, “Today I will warmly welcome Albanese, Modi and Kishida to my home in Delaware. These three leaders are not only committed to keeping the Indo-Pacific region free and open, but are also close friends of me and America. I am excited for this upcoming meeting.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already reached the US and has also met Indian expatriates at the Philadelphia International Airport. On Sunday, Modi will participate in the Quad summit, which will also be attended by US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. During this, international issues are expected to be discussed in detail. After this, Prime Minister Modi will give a special address from New York at 9:30 pm Indian time on Sunday night.

It is worth noting that presidential elections are going to be held in the US in November. The current Vice President Kamala Harris is the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party this time, while her opponent is former President Donald Trump of the Republican Party. Analysts believe that this visit of Prime Minister Modi has special significance at such a political juncture. Therefore, all eyes are on this visit from 21 to 23 September.
