Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: During winter, the maximum cold falls in the months of December and January. Before this, a huge drop has been recorded in the minimum temperature of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. The coldest area was Dras city, where the minimum temperature was recorded at minus 10.7 degree Celsius. While the temperature was recorded below zero in the whole of Ladakh.
The weather of Jammu and Kashmir remained dry in the last 24 hours and similar conditions will prevail for the next 24 hours. The weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir for Saturday (November 12) said that there is a possibility of rain and snowfall between November 13 and 16.
The temperature in Gulmarg is also low
Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of 1.2 degrees Celsius, which is normal for the time being. However, tourist destination Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Gulmarg minus 4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Kargil city recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius and Leh minus 8.8 degrees Celsius.
On October 20 this year, there was early snowfall in the hilly areas, due to which Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh witnessed unusually cold conditions and people are battling. In the same week on November 8, more snowfall was recorded, resulting in road closures in hilly areas.
“Light rain and snowfall very likely over high altitude areas fairly widespread over Jammu and Kashmir on November 13 and 14,” the Met department said in its Saturday forecast. Mainly dry weather is likely over parts of Kashmir, while light rain/snow is likely on subsequent two days (November 13 and 14).
