Due to the closure of the highway, long lines of vehicles were formed. The administration worked on a war footing to open the closed road, but bad weather became a problem. Due to heavy rain from late Sunday night to Monday morning, more than 300 meters of road has been damaged on the Niti Border Highway in Uttarakhand on the India-China border.
Heavy debris and boulders fell on the road. On the other hand, a bridge under construction on the highway also broke down completely. According to the information received, after heavy rains, Farkiya Nala and Bampa Nala overflowed, due to which the entire road constructed a few months ago broke down due to debris and boulders.
Due to heavy debris on the road, the movement of vehicles on the border came to a complete halt. By 4 pm on Monday evening, BRO’s contractor agency Osis Company prepared an alternative road after a lot of hard work on top of the boulders and debris.
The company’s project manager SP Singh said that after heavy rains, the road has suffered a lot of damage due to debris and boulders falling from the mountain. More than 300 meters of road on the highway was completely damaged.
The motor bridge under construction was also completely damaged. Some of the company’s machines were also buried under the debris. It was told that an alternative route has been prepared.
Badrinath highway remained closed for one and a half hours due to debris
On Monday morning, a huge amount of debris fell from the hill at Dhaulidhar on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. Fortunately, no vehicle was passing through here at that time. The NH team restored traffic here after about one and a half hours of hard work.
Police post in-charge Bacheli Khal Deepak Lingwal said that due to heavy rains in Dhaulidhar, a lot of debris suddenly came on Monday morning at around 9:30. The NH administration installed a JCB machine here and restored traffic by 11 am.
Due to the blockage of the highway, a long queue of vehicles going towards Badri-Kedar and Rishikesh was formed here. After the debris was removed, the vehicles proceeded towards their destination. Passengers continued to face difficulties due to the closure of the highway.
