New Delhi: The political battle over the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand has intensified. On one hand, Champai Soren has left JMM and joined BJP, while now Hemant Soren has also moved on. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. During this, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren were also present. In this meeting, the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand were discussed. This meeting is also considered special because assembly elections are going to be held soon in Jharkhand.

The meeting took place after Champai’s resignation

In fact, in the Lok Sabha elections, JMM and Congress party contested together under the Indi alliance. Now the political chessboard has started getting laid out even before the assembly elections in Jharkhand. Jharkhand CM has met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. This meeting took place a few days after former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren joined the BJP. Let us tell you that Champai Soren had resigned recently, raising questions on the current working style of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and citing his ‘insult’ in the party.

Discussion on assembly elections

Hemant Soren described the meeting as a courtesy call, but it is understood that they discussed preparations for the state assembly elections to be held later this year. Champai Soren was appointed chief minister on February 2 after Hemant Soren’s resignation and subsequent arrest by the ED in a money laundering case. Getting bail cleared the way for Hemant Soren to become chief minister again. Due to this, Champai Soren had to resign from his post on July 3. Congress and JMM are part of the coalition government in the state.
