Himachal elections: 3 rebel BJP candidates in Chief Minister’s home district, 413 contenders for 68 seats

Shimla. In the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, three rebel BJP candidates are still in the race in Mandi, the home district of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. In this hill state, 413 contenders are in the fray for 68 seats in the assembly elections to be held on November 12. On the last day of withdrawal of nominations, 92 candidates withdrew their names in the state.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing rebel candidates in three of the 10 seats despite the withdrawal of nomination papers of 11 candidates in Mandi. At present, 67 candidates are in the fray in Mandi. The rebel BJP candidates in the district include Abhishek Thakur, son of former minister Roop Singh from Nachan seat and Gyan Chand from Sundernagar seat and Praveen Sharma from Mandi seat.

Congress rebel candidate Lal Singh Kaushal withdrew from Nanach seat
Meanwhile, rebel Congress candidate Lal Singh Kaushal has withdrawn his name from Nachan seat, from where he had lost the last election on a party ticket. No candidate has withdrawn nomination from Joginder Nagar seat in Mandi district and a total of 11 candidates are in the fray.

AAP rebels with BJP in Shimla
In Shimla, AAP’s rebel candidate Gaurav Sharma has withdrawn his nomination from Shimla ‘Urban’ seat, but has declared his support for BJP candidate Sanjay Sood. A total of 50 candidates are in the fray in Shimla district after the names of eight candidates were withdrawn.

91 candidates in fray for 15 seats in Kangra
Kangra district has maximum 15 seats and 91 candidates are in the fray. In Kangra, 15 candidates have withdrawn their names. Himachal Pradesh Assembly election results will be declared on December 8.
