According to KCNA, at an emergency politburo meeting held in Sinuiju, Kim Jong Un asked his officials to strictly punish those who neglected their responsibilities for disaster management.
In July, the northwestern province was hit by devastating floods, leaving thousands of residents homeless and killing several people. According to South Korean media, the death toll from the floods may exceed 1,000.
