‘I came empty handed and have to go empty handed’, will Shikhar Dhawan miss the cricket field after retirement?, told his heart

India’s experienced opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement by posting a video on social media on Saturday. Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches for India. In his first interview after announcing his retirement, Shikhar Dhawan has said that even after his retirement, people’s love for him will not decrease but may increase further.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Shikhar Dhawan said that he lives in the hearts of people and after retirement, he will be seen entertaining his fans through social media. When Dhawan was asked that he will no longer play at the international level and the fame and love he has received on the field will now go away, what does he feel about this? Dhawan said, “No, I did not think that it will go away. It is not necessary that if I leave cricket, my fame will decrease, it can also increase. I have the love of the people and I live in everyone’s hearts.”

He further said, “Apart from cricket, I also make people laugh through social media and reels and I am happy when I make people laugh through my reels. Making such videos is a child inside me or my hobby. Through this I make my fans laugh and I get happiness. This keeps me connected with them. I also keep listening to spiritual talks, in which they say that what you have lost is only in your mind. We came empty handed and have to go empty handed.”

Why is Shikhar Dhawan known as ‘Mr. ICC’, these 3 tournaments bear testimony to that!

Shikhar Dhawan wrote on Instagram, “I am ending this chapter of my cricket journey but I have countless memories with me and I am very grateful. Thank you for the love and support. Jai Hind.” He said, “It is necessary to turn the page to move forward in life and hence I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. I am retiring with peace in my heart that I played cricket for India for so long.”

Dhawan (38) said he has represented the national team in all three formats since making his international debut in an ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam in 2010 and he was retiring as a satisfied man.
