If BJP gets less than majority seats then there will be no evil seen in PDP; Omar Abdullah hits back at PM’s allegations

National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Saturday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegations that three families had ruined Jammu and Kashmir. He said the BJP had no problem in forging an alliance with these three families when it needed them. “If the BJP gets less seats after the election and if the PDP supports it, the BJP will find no fault with the PDP for forming the government,” Omar told reporters after a rally in Kulgam district.

He asked why the BJP did not mind the PDP when it partnered with the party after the 2014 elections when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was the chief minister. Omar said whenever the BJP needed the support of these three families in the past, it did not see anything bad in any of them.

“When the late Vajpayee wanted me to become a minister, wasn’t I bad then?” he asked, adding that the prime minister would blame the NC when it was election time.

Omar said the prime minister should have talked about the killing of two soldiers in Kishtwar on Friday and the encounter in Baramulla’s Tappar area. “We were told that guns will disappear after Article 370 is revoked, but has that happened?” he asked.

He alleged that the Prime Minister talks about nepotism to distract people from the issues. It has not even been 24 hours. An army officer and a soldier were martyred at the hands of terrorists in Kishtwar area. Today, encounters are going on in North Kashmir. Perhaps there is no area in Jammu where the effect of terrorism is not visible. Whether it is Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Jammu or Kathua, wherever you look, the effect of terrorism is visible. The Prime Minister can say a lot, but he cannot say that his party has achieved any special success in fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
