The police have arrested the accused driver after a search operation. After the accident in Khajrana, Indore on Sunday, the accused driver fled from the spot with the car.
The 28-year-old driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh, hails from Gwalior and was living in Sun City, Indore. Assistant Police Commissioner Kundan Mandloi said, “Initial investigation has revealed that the accused was in a hurry to give a cake to his friend on his birthday, so he drove on the wrong side.” Police also said that Singh works in a BPO in Indore and had recently bought a second-hand car. A case has been registered against him under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said that two girls, Laxmi Tomar (24) and Diksha Jadoun (25), were returning home on their scooty after attending the Ganesh temple fair in Khajrana. Around 11.30 pm on Sunday, a speeding BMW coming from the wrong side hit their scooty and both the women fell on the road, leaving them severely injured.
Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Singh Sendhav told PTI, “According to eyewitnesses, a BMW car hit the scooty. Due to the collision, both the women fell on the road and were seriously injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where they died.” A family member said that the victim Lakshmi Tomar was the only earning member of her family as her father died last year. Tomar, originally from Shivpuri, was supporting her family by working in Indore. Diksha Jadon was a resident of Gwalior and worked in a branch of a public sector bank.
