In Ankita Bhandari murder case, SIT took 3 main accused on remand, mobile found from canal, friend’s statement recorded

Dehradun. The investigation into the famous Ankita Bhandari murder case of Uttarakhand has intensified. The Special Investigation Team ‘SIT’ probing this case has taken the three main accused on police remand. During the interrogation, efforts are on to gather important information about the entire case. An officer has given information about the remand of the accused on Saturday.

Ankita, who worked as a receptionist at a resort, was allegedly murdered by resort operator Pulkit Arya along with two of his employees Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta by pushing them into the Chila canal near Rishikesh. Ankita had refused to provide ‘extra service’ to the VIP customers of the resort. The accused were arrested on 23 September. The officer, on condition of anonymity, said that the trio may also be taken to the crime scene to establish the sequence of events.

Sub Inspector suspended for negligence
Despite being contacted, Revenue Police Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Pratap Singh has been suspended for negligence in the line of duty for not registering an FIR in the case. Singh is also being questioned.

The statement of the friend who talked on the phone on the day of the murder was also recorded.
Apart from this, the investigation team has also recorded the statement of Ankita’s friend, with whom she had a conversation on the day of her murder, the officer said. The SIT has constituted five teams to expedite the investigation of the case.

Mobile phone also recovered from Chila canal
A mobile phone has also been recovered from the Chila canal in which Ankita was allegedly thrown, the official said. He told that the phone has been handed over to the forensic team.
