Cyber Crime: Large scale action is being taken to stop fraud through phone and internet. The Telecom Ministry is also taking action on the complaints being made by the people through the Sanchar Sathi portal. Till 15th September, about three and a half lakh numbers have been disconnected. Along with this, about 3.5 lakh SMS with wrong headers have been blocked. 2.37 lakh mobile handsets being used in cyber fraud have been blocked.
Telecom operators have also been given strict instructions to identify those calls and numbers which are being used for such activities. Recently, people have lodged complaints related to 106912 numbers across the country through the portal, out of which action has been taken on 90,769 complaints.
