Income tax portal will tell the reason for delay in refund, complaints increased on social media and helpline

ITR refund status 2024-25: Even after filing Income Tax Return (ITR), people are not getting their refund on time. All those people are complaining about this, whose refund was due according to their returns. People are also complaining about this on social media and the helpline number of the Income Tax Department. At the same time, the department says that people are being given refund on time, but if they are not getting it on time due to some reasons, then they can check the status by visiting the department’s portal or can also send an email.

Sources say that the Income Tax Department is verifying a large number of income tax returns filed. In this process, it is being seen whether people have given the details of their income and assets correctly while filing the return or not, due to which there has been a delay in issuing some income tax returns, but their number is very limited.

There are many reasons behind the delay in getting a large number of refunds. There is an error in the bank account information given by people while filing returns. If there is a delay in getting the refund, then you can send your complaint to the department’s mail ID orm@cpc.incometax.gov.in by writing your PAN card number and mobile number.

How to check refund status

You have to go to the Income Tax Department’s https://eportal.incometax.gov.in and login by entering your user ID and password. After that go to the service section. Where you have to click on the Know Your Refund Status option. After that select the assessment year 2023-24. After that by clicking on the submit option, you will be able to see the status of your refund and apply for refund on the portal itself.

The correct situation will be known

Through the e-portal, you will know exactly whether your refund has been sent to your account or not. Whether the refund has been sent in full or only a part. If the refund has not been sent, it will show refund failed. There can be many reasons behind this. Either your return has not been filed in the correct manner or some things have been hidden. Or there is some mistake in the name, account number, IFSC code of the bank account to which the refund is to be sent.

This time, one of the reasons behind the delay in refund is that many people’s PAN card is not linked to their Aadhaar card, due to which the refund is not being issued on time. At the same time, some people have filed returns, but have not done e-verification later. Due to this also, payment is not being made on time.
