Tirupur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the constituents of the ‘INDIA’ alliance have ‘accepted defeat’ but they intend to loot. Addressing a public meeting in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Modi criticized the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress and referred to the legacy of AIADMK leaders late MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalitha. Modi met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit president in Tiruppur K. Addressing the concluding ceremony of Annamalai’s statewide yatra ‘En Man En Makkal’, he hit out at the opposition and said that during the last 10 years, the BJP government at the Center has given more funds for development projects in Tamil Nadu than before.

‘BJP is preparing to end the politics of corruption’

By ‘comparison with the past’, PM Modi indirectly meant the UPA rule at the Centre. Modi said, “India’s constituent parties have accepted defeat but their intention is to loot.” But people have made up their mind to stop any such efforts. Even in Tamil Nadu, BJP is preparing to end the politics of corruption. He said that during the years 2004-2014, long-time allies, DMK and Congress shared power in the UPA regime but they never bothered to give priority to the development of Tamil Nadu. Modi alleged that there was no development during the Congress rule, while the BJP rule was making dedicated efforts to ensure the development of Tamil Nadu.

‘Opposition parties will never allow Tamil Nadu to develop’

PM Modi said that under the Mudra scheme, Rs 2 lakh crore has been given to the entrepreneurs of Tamil Nadu. He said, ‘The opposition parties which currently dominate Tamil Nadu will never allow Tamil Nadu to develop. Had Congress, which is involved in defense deals worth thousands of crores of rupees, ever given permission to build defense corridors in Tamil Nadu? Today, when the country is exporting many times more in the defense sector and is providing employment to the youth, would Congress have allowed this to happen? We have launched PLI scheme for textile industry. As a result, investment proposals worth approximately Rs 20,000 crore have come forward. A turnover of around Rs 2 lakh crore is expected.

Slogan of ‘Vendum Modi Meendum Modi’ echoed in Tiruppur

Praising State BJP President Annamalai, PM Modi said that his ‘En Man En Makkal Yatra’ has been very successful. He said that this yatra has helped in taking the message of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ to every home. Prime Minister Modi stressed on the ‘Modi Guarantee’ for every citizen, which includes free grains and housing for rural families. He reiterated BJP’s commitment to end the politics of corruption and promote inclusive development in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, Modi was given a warm welcome at the venue. There were a large number of party workers at the meeting venue and they were raising slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vendum Modi Meendum Modi’ (we want Modi once again).

The journey to Annamalai started on 28 July 2023.

At the venue, the people of Erode gifted 67 kg turmeric garlands to the Prime Minister to thank him for the establishment of the Turmeric Board. Erode is known as the turmeric centre. Handmade shawls of Toda tribal community from Nilgiri and a replica of Jallikattu bull were also presented to the Prime Minister. He said he was happy to be in Palladam, part of the western ‘Kongu’ region, which ‘in many ways represents India’s growth story.’ The statewide ‘En Man En Makkal’ (My Land, My People) Yatra of Annamalai was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Rameshwaram on July 28, 2023.
