IPS Officer: How much height, chest, eyesight, weight are required to become an IPS, here are the complete details

IPS Officer: If you dream of becoming an IPS by cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE), then you are going to be told some important things. There are some physical criteria to become an IPS officer. Those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria become IPS officers. The full form of IPS is Indian Police Service ie Indian Police Officer. It is one of the most prestigious services in the country.

An IPS works in various positions in the state and central government in his career. In his career, IPS can become the Chief of the Central Reserve Police Forces and Central Intelligence Agencies like RAW and IB along with the State Police Service.

To become an IPS officer, the general category men should have a minimum height of 165 cm. If the male candidate belongs to SC, ST or OBC category, then his height should be at least 160 cm. While the length of women of general category should be at least 150 cm and the length of women of SC, ST and OBC category should be 145 cm. Talking about the eyesight, it is necessary for the candidates of all categories to have eyesight of 6/6 or 6/9. Weak eye vision should be 6/12 or 6/9.

To become an IPS, the chest of male candidates should be 84 cm. Whereas the chest of women should be 79 cm. The chest of both men and women should expand at least 5 cm.

After the UPSC Civil Services Examination, there is a physical fitness test for the post of IPS. In which if a candidate gets out due to not being able to do chest expansion in the first attempt, then he gets a chance to appeal. After the appeal, there is a physical fitness test again.

After getting selected for the post of IPS, three months training is done in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). This is called foundation course. It is a common course for IAS, IPS, and IFS officers. Which everyone has to do. After this, the IPS is sent to the National Police Academy, Hyderabad for 11 months of training. Here the trainee IPS is given both indoor and outdoor training.
