Israel is one step away from victory… Benjamin Netanyahu reveals after 5 months – it meant something else

A fierce war is going on between Israel and Hamas. Meanwhile, reconciliation is being done between the two with the mediation of America, Egypt and Qatar. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke openly to the foreign media. He was asked that five months ago the Israeli PM had said that he is just one step away from victory but, it seems that the country has not yet achieved the goal in Gaza, which has been claimed. Now Netanyahu clarified that he meant something else.

Benjamin Netanyahu was asked about his claim in April that Israel was “one step away from victory” against Hamas. Five months on, the country appears to have not achieved that goal. Even Israel’s national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi has predicted the war could continue until 2025.

Netanyahu revealed the real meaning after five months

“What I wanted to say was that we were one step away from the most important thing that would lead to our victory,” Netanyahu told reporters during a press conference. He was referring to Israel’s attack on Rafah in early May. “I didn’t think we could have won if we hadn’t gone to Rafah. I faced a lot of international and American pressure to go to Rafah and Philadelphia,” Netanyahu said.

I don’t want to rule Gaza, I want to snatch it from Hamas

He said, “We are now in a position to destroy Hamas militarily. There is still work to be done to destroy their capacity to govern. I don’t want to rule Gaza, but I want to take it away from Hamas.”

Meanwhile, Netanyahu reiterated his demand to maintain an IDF presence on the Gaza-Egypt border during the first phase of a potential ceasefire deal. He said that if Israel leaves the Philadelphia Corridor, it will not be able to come back. “We are not going to leave for 42 days. We are right there.”
