A 26-year-old US citizen was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Friday while protesting against the expansion of settlements in Palestine’s West Bank. The Israel Defense Force (IDF) said they are investigating the incident. However, the US embassy has not yet commented on the matter.
News agency Reuters gave this information quoting Palestinian news agency WAFA. The woman was admitted to Rafidiya Hospital in Nablus after being shot in the head, where doctors confirmed her death.
“We tried very hard to save her, but unfortunately she couldn’t be saved,” hospital head Fouad Nafaa told Reuters. The incident comes against the backdrop of long-running tensions between Israel and Palestine and protests over the settlement issue.
