ISRO did a great job, launched the last rocket of SSLV mission; Somnath explained its work

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched the third and final rocket of the SSLV-D3/EOS-08 mission from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. SSLV-D3 accurately placed EOS-08 in orbit. This is a big success for ISRO. After successfully launching the satellite, space agency chief S Somnath announced the completion of the development work of SSLV.

ISRO chief S Somanath said the third and final flight of the small-lift launch vehicle, SSLV-D3/EOS-08, has been successfully completed. He said the rocket has placed the spacecraft in the orbit exactly as planned. There was no deviation in the injection conditions.

The space agency had earlier announced that the launch would take place on August 15.

ISRO said in a statement that the primary objective of the EOS-8 mission is to design a micro satellite, build payload equipment and incorporate new technologies required for future satellites. ISRO said that the mission duration of this spacecraft is one year. It weighs about 175.5 kg and generates about 420 watts of power.

The IOIR payload is designed to capture images. This payload can capture images during day and night time in medium-wave IR (MIR) and long-wave-IR (NWIR) bands. It can be used for tasks such as satellite-based surveillance, disaster monitoring, environmental monitoring, fire detection, volcanic activity observation and industrial and power plant disaster monitoring.
