The reason is that 586 units only took land, while did not start the work of setting up industries. Even if someone did it, it was only for food supply. Government’s land worth crores of rupees was encroached upon by these units. Now, keeping in view the investment of 3000 crores, the government has issued a notice to take back the land from all those units who were occupying the allotted land for setting up industries. Now new people will get an opportunity to set up industry. The state government has received about 4500 applications for setting up industries.

Keeping this in view, the government has taken this big decision. A total of 586 units have been issued final notices. He will have to give his answer regarding the industry within 15 days, otherwise the land will be taken back. Although, the government had issued several notices to these units earlier also, but now the Lieutenant Governor has taken a tough stand. This time, it has been clearly stated in the notice that reply within 15 days and if the reply is not satisfactory, the allotment of land will be cancelled. Significantly, the Jammu and Kashmir government had brought a new industrial plan in January 2021. Since then, the state has received investment proposals worth Rs 28,400 crore. Under this, 500 to 600 acres of land was allotted to start industries in Jammu and Kashmir, on which 586 units were registered.

462 units were registered in Kashmir division and 124 in Jammu division. Many people did not deposit the premium on it and many people took land under the scheme but opened a unit for food supply. Now notice has been issued to these units by Smit Sethi, Managing Director of Jammu and Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). Under this scheme, there were 423 units, which were allotted land by the Jammu and Kashmir Small Scale Industries Development Corporation, while 163 were provided land by CIDCO. Now new people will get an opportunity for investment of Rs 3000 crore and those who have applied will be allotted land on priority basis.
