Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who reached Kathua to campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, fell ill while giving a speech on the stage. After this, his speech was interrupted and the party leaders held his hand and made him sit on a chair. Party leaders said that now his condition is stable and doctors have been called to check him. Kharge was paying tribute to a head constable who was martyred in the ongoing operation with terrorists in Kathua. Two other policemen have been injured and a terrorist has been killed in this incident.
“He was addressing a public meeting in Jasrota when he started feeling uneasy and dizzy. His colleagues helped him sit on a chair,” Congress general secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir told PTI. He told that the condition of the Congress President is stable. Kharge had gone to Jasrota to address a rally to garner support for his party candidates in the assembly elections. He is also scheduled to address another public meeting in Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
Jammu and Kashmir Congress vice-president Ravindra Sharma said Kharge felt dizzy and was taken to a room, where doctors were called for examination. He said he would advise whether he could attend the second rally or not.
