Kalindi Express saved due to alertness of driver; conspiracy with cylinder and petrol bomb failed

Due to the alertness of the train driver, Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express narrowly escaped a possible accident in Kanpur. A conspiracy was hatched to blow up the engine with an LPG cylinder explosion and then use petrol bombs, but due to the driver’s presence of mind, the plan failed. An LPG cylinder collided with the engine of Kalindi Express near Mundheri crossing between Barrajpur and Bilhaur in Kanpur at around 8.30 pm on Sunday night and fell off the track with a bang sound. On receiving the news, a railway and police team reached the spot. During investigation, apart from the cylinder that collided nearby, petrol bombs, matchsticks and a powder-like substance were found in a bag.

Kanpur Additional Commissioner Harish Chandra told in a media briefing on the spot that the train driver saw the cylinder on the track after which he applied emergency brakes. Due to emergency braking, the speed of the train reduced before hitting the cylinder. After the collision, the cylinder jumped with a sound like an explosion and fell away. Referring to other items found from the crime scene, the ACP said that the forensic team is collecting all the evidence. On the question of a terrorist conspiracy behind this, the ACP said that the police is investigating all the facts and points.

Kalindi Express was sent on its onward journey after some time. There was no damage to the railway track, so there was no problem in train operation on the railway route. Last month also, 22 coaches of Sabarmati Express had derailed in Kanpur. In that accident also, it was found that boulders were placed on the track. The train driver then applied brakes after seeing boulders on the track but was not completely successful and 20-22 coaches derailed. Along with the police, IB was also included in the investigation of that accident.

Let us remind you that in Kanpur, eight years ago in November 2016, Patna-Indore Express derailed in which 152 people died. In the investigation of that accident, it was found that the train did not derail, but was made to derail. A man named Moti Paswan was caught in Bihar who told that a mastermind sitting in Dubai had paid money to get this work done. Moti Paswan told that the people involved in the incident were given training to damage the railway track technically.
