The Deputy CM of the Congress government in Karnataka has issued a strange order. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has directed everyone in the state to hoist the Kannada flag on their buildings on November 1. Please note that November 1 is Karnataka’s state day. For this reason, the Deputy CM of the state has issued this instruction. He has also given this order to all the companies and educational institutions. He issued a statement to the media giving this information.
Order issued for all companies and educational institutions
DK Shivakumar said, “November 1 is important for Karnataka, this day is our state day which we celebrate with joy. As the Bengaluru Development Minister, I have given instructions that on that day all companies and educational institutions in the state of Karnataka The flag will be hoisted. 50 percent of the people in Bengaluru are from outside the state, this way the conduct of the Kannada language should be respected. The Karnataka flag should be hoisted on the buildings on November 1. “
Gave strict warning to staunch supporters
He also gave a strict warning to staunch Kannada supporters not to take law into their own hands on this day. He said, “I am warning pro-Kannada organizations not to take law into their own hands on that day. But it is mandatory that all institutions and companies hoist the Kannada flag on that day.”
Earlier a bill was passed for Kannada language
Let us tell you that in February this year, the Karnataka Assembly had passed a bill, under which the use of 60 percent Kannada language in the signboards of businesses and establishments across the state was made mandatory. The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had said that licenses would be canceled if it was not followed. The Kannada Language Comprehensive Development (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which seeks to amend the 2022 Act, was introduced in the House during the ongoing budget session.
the governor had sent back
However, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sent back to the state Cabinet the ordinance proposing to increase the use of Kannada language in commercial signboards. While sending back the ordinance, the Governor advised the state government to pass it through the Assembly, which drew a sharp reaction from the government and called his intervention unnecessary. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had said, “The government has made a law to increase the presence of Kannada on signboards. However, as per the Governor’s instructions, it is mandatory for it to be passed by the Assembly. He could have simply supported it.”
