Karnataka Mahant suicide: 21-year-old student shot intimate videos, police made shocking revelations

Bangalore. The police have made shocking revelations in the suicide case of Lingayat Mahant Basavalingeshwara Swamy. Police say that the 21-year-old girl had shot a private video and wanted to blackmail Mahant through it. The name of this student has been described as Nilambike aka Chandu. In this case, Mahant Mrityunjay Swamy and lawyer Mahadevaiah of Kannur Math have been arrested along with student Nilambike. According to the police, the engineering second year student of Doddaballapura had some quarrel and misunderstanding with Mahant. Due to this he made videos and sent his CDs to many people.

Police said that Mahant’s suicide note states that some people were harassing and blackmailing Mahant. This has been said in a PTI report. At the same time, in a news of NDTV, it has been told by the police that Basavling Swami’s student had become friends with Nilambike. This same student had shot a private video in an attempt to ‘honeytrap’ Mahant. Apart from this, some calls were recorded. Police have seized three videos, which were allegedly used for blackmailing. Basavalinga Swami committed suicide in his room inside the Math on 24 October. This monastery is more than 400 years old.

Police said that the inquiry and investigation is still going on

The PTI report quoted Ram Nagar Superintendent of Police K Santosh Babu as saying that the investigation revealed that Nilambike, 21, had made the video. Apart from this, Mrityunjaya Swami of Kannur Math and a lawyer Mahadevaiah were also involved. The police officer declined to provide further details, citing investigations. He said that there was misunderstanding and quarrel between the deceased Mahant, student Nilambike alias Chandu, Mrityunjay Swamy and lawyer Mahadevaiah. Investigation is going on now and more information will be given later.
