Kejriwal’s masterstroke

The Supreme Court has granted conditional bail to CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail on charges of alleged scam in Delhi Excise Policy. As soon as he came out of jail, Arvind Kejriwal made a big announcement which has caused a political storm. He has said that he will resign from the post of CM after two days. Along with this, he also said that after his resignation, Manish Sisodia will also not become the CM of Delhi. These statements of his are being called his political masterstroke.

Kejriwal’s masterstroke

In fact, while granting bail to Kejriwal, the Supreme Court has imposed such conditions that it will be difficult for him to work as CM. The Supreme Court said in its decision that Kejriwal will neither be able to go to the secretariat nor sign any other file except for very important decisions. That is, the Supreme Court’s decision has tied Kejriwal’s hands and feet. In such a situation, Kejriwal has considered it better to resign instead of clinging to the CM’s chair. Now he will go among the public and try to gain sympathy.

After the Delhi liquor scam case came to light, the image of Aam Aadmi Party has taken a big hit. There is also anti-incumbency of the government of the last 10 years. In such a situation, Aam Aadmi Party hopes that with this decision of Kejriwal, it will be easier for them to contest the elections and face BJP. In such a situation, the question arises that who will be the next CM of Delhi.

Who is the next boss of Delhi?

First of all, talking about Sunita Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal was not active in politics at all before Kejriwal went to jail. But after Kejriwal went to jail, Mrs Kejriwal completely came on the front foot and started playing the innings of politics. She campaigned for AAP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. She kept participating in rallies and party meetings. In between, she kept conveying Kejriwal’s message to the people by releasing video messages.

In such a situation, if Sunita Kejriwal becomes the CM, then the CM House will not have to be vacated. But the disadvantage of her becoming the CM is that BJP will get a chance to attack Arvind Kejriwal. BJP can say that the work that Lalu Yadav did by making Rabri Devi the CM before going to jail, the same work has been done by Kejriwal today. In such a situation, what is the difference between the two?

The second option for Aam Aadmi Party is Atishi, who is currently the Education Minister of Delhi Government. Atishi currently has all the major responsibilities in the Delhi Government. Atishi is considered to be trusted by both Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. She also has a very good bonding with the officials, so if Atishi becomes the CM of Delhi, she will be the third woman CM after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit. However, if she is made the CM, there may be rebellion within the party.

After Aam Aadmi Party, the third option is Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj. Saurabh Bhardwaj may be the health minister in the Delhi government right now. But the party does not have full faith in his ability. Saurabh Bhardwaj does not get along well with the officials either. So if he is made the CM, the government will not be able to do any work. In such a situation, the possibility of Saurabh Bhardwaj becoming the CM is a little less.

How has Kejriwal’s tenure been?

Kejriwal has been the Chief Minister of Delhi for the last 10 years, this is his third term as Chief Minister. But for the second time he has to resign before time. Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the first time in 2013, when he was the face of the anti-corruption movement. He became a hero of a large section of people by defeating Sheila Dikshit, who was the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years. AAP won 28 out of 70 seats in Delhi in the very first election. But Kejriwal, who had led a movement against Congress, had to form the government with the support of Congress.

Kejriwal’s first term as CM lasted only 49 days. After this, when elections were held again in Delhi, AAP broke all records. AAP won 67 out of 70 seats in Delhi. BJP was reduced to 3 seats and Congress could not even open its account. This time Kejriwal ran the government for full 5 years. Elections were held again in Delhi on 8 February 2020 and AAP again won a bumper victory and the party got 60 out of 62 seats. Kejriwal became CM for the third time. But the Delhi government got so entangled in the liquor scam that now even after getting bail, he has had to announce his resignation.
