Protests are continuing after the rape and brutal murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court also heard the case and made strong comments on the police administration. After the sharp statements of the court, Kolkata Police has taken action. Now the news has come that three police officers have been suspended for failing to stop the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College Hospital.
Departmental enquiry will also be initiated
Kolkata Police has suspended two Assistant Commissioner rank officers and an Inspector. According to the information, all three have been suspended for failing to stop the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College. These officers have been held responsible for not taking appropriate steps to stop the goons. A departmental inquiry will also be initiated against the officers.
Supreme Court asked sharp questions
While hearing the Kolkata rape-murder case on Tuesday, Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that we are unable to understand how the state government could not handle the issue of vandalism in the hospital. The court asked what will the Bengal government do about the principal? Why was there a delay in filing a murder case? Why did the police not protect the crime scene? Why were thousands of people allowed to enter? Why was the principal made to join another college?
Doctors should return to work- Supreme Court
A written order of the Supreme Court has come out in which the Supreme Court has appealed to doctors across the country to return to work. The Supreme Court has assured those working in the medical profession that the court is considering their concerns. Their safety is a matter of national priority. The Supreme Court has expressed hope that with the deployment of central security forces in the hospital, the doctors will return to duty as soon as possible.
