CJI spoke on Kolkata rape murder case

While making a strong comment on the report given by the government during the hearing in the Supreme Court on the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, CJI DY Chandrachud said that according to you, when 4447 CCTV cameras were installed, if so many cameras were installed then why did this incident happen? In the case of RG Kar Medical College, tell us what equipment has been installed? The CJI further said that just telling about the funds will not work, also tell what further progress was made in the case?

CJI asked many sharp questions

Chief Justice Chandrachud said that the photograph of the victim’s dead body should be removed from all social media platforms with immediate effect. CJI asked CBI, do you have the challan? When the body is taken for postmortem, CBI said no. On this, CJI asked where is that challan? Postmortem cannot be done without that challan. On this, West Bengal government’s lawyer Sibal said that he also does not have it right now. He will find out and inform the court.

In this case, a petitioner questioned the initial investigation of the police. He said that post-mortems are never conducted at night in the country. Not only this, seizure and search is not done before filing an FIR, but it has happened in this case. The Supreme Court will now hear the case on September 17.

On August 9, a female trainee doctor was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. Her body was found half naked in a seminar hall. On August 10, the accused in this case, Sanjay Roy, was arrested. This case has reached the Supreme Court and in the last hearing, the Supreme Court had severely reprimanded the Bengal government.
