After seven years, the circle rate of land in Ayodhya is going to increase. On Thursday, the DM released the list of proposed circle rates and sought suggestions from the people. The proposed rates are said to be 1.5 to 2 times higher than the current rates applicable from August 2017. In such a situation, the price of land at major places in Ayodhya can become 1.5 to 2 times more expensive. The DM has set the last date for receiving suggestions as September 4. Only after this, a final decision will be taken regarding the rates.
According to the Indian Express, the circle rate in Ayodhya has not been revised for seven years. In fact, after the Supreme Court cleared the way for the construction of the Ram temple, there has been a surge in land transactions in Ayodhya and the market value of land has increased. There is a race to acquire land in Ayodhya.
Ayodhya is one of the 54 districts in Uttar Pradesh where the circle rate was last revised in 2017. In 21 districts, it was revised in 2023. Rates were also revised in districts adjoining Ayodhya such as Barabanki, Ambedkar Nagar, Gonda and Basti and Sultanpur. Before the Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha in 2022, the local administration had proposed an increase in circle rates but it was not increased.
