Landslide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar tunnel, one dead – 6 people trapped

Jammu Kashmir Landslide: One person died after a landslide in a power project tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Saturday (October 29). While six rescuers got trapped. The incident took place at the Ratle power project construction site. Police said that six rescuers who had gone into the tunnel after the landslide were trapped. Rescue team is present at the spot.

Officials said four people were hit by the landslide. Three have been rescued, while one has died. Several rescuers have reached the spot and are working with floodlights to rescue the trapped people.

On this incident, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that he spoke to DC Kishtwar, J&K on receiving the report of a fatal landslide at the site of the under-construction Ratle Power Project. The JCB driver unfortunately died.

Union minister in touch with district administration

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that after the incident a rescue team of about 6 persons deputed at the site was also trapped under the debris. All efforts are being made to rescue and rescue the trapped people. Further assistance is provided as needed. I am in constant touch with the district administration.
