Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari praised Rahul Gandhi for raising public issues and providing relief in matters like Manipur. He said that every Leader of Opposition is a ‘PM in waiting’. Rahul Gandhi has become the Leader of Opposition in the lower house of Parliament after the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Tewari praised Rahul Gandhi during an interview.

When asked if Rahul Gandhi is being seen as the future Prime Minister now that he is the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Tiwari said, “Every Leader of Opposition is a ‘PM in waiting’. As far as Rahul Gandhi is concerned, his speeches have been well received across the country. He has raised issues that are close to the hearts and minds of the people.” He said that the visits made by Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition, even to places like Manipur, provided balm where healing was needed.
“It is also a proof of his maturity”
Tiwari said that this is indeed a proof of Rahul Gandhi’s maturity. This is the first time after a gap of 10 years that there is a Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, as the largest opposition party Congress did not have the required 10 percent members to claim this post in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha. Rahul is representing Rae Bareli seat of Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha this time. Earlier, he has represented Amethi thrice and Wayanad once. (Language)
