LIVE: Congress’s ruckus across the country today after Rahul Gandhi’s MP, Kharge and Priyanka will do Satyagraha at Rajghat

New Delhi. Congress leaders and workers will hold a nationwide Satyagraha on Sunday to protest against the disqualification of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi from the membership of the Lok Sabha. According to the statement issued by the Congress, expressing solidarity with Rahul Gandhi, this ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ will be held in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi in all the provinces and districts. It will start from 10 in the morning till 5 in the evening.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other Congress leaders will participate in the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ organized at Rajghat in Delhi. On the other hand, ‘Swaraj India’ has expressed its support for this Satyagraha of Congress.

Party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal has said in a letter sent to all state units, ‘Rahul Gandhi is not alone in this fight for justice, lakhs of Congressmen and crores of people are standing with him. We will do satyagraha in support of our leader and his fearless fight.

Rahul Gandhi, representing Kerala’s Wayanad parliamentary seat, was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha in view of his conviction by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case. In the notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it has been said that his disqualification order will be effective from March 23.

Significantly, a court in Surat convicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday in a criminal defamation case filed in 2019 and sentenced him to two years imprisonment for his remark regarding ‘Modi surname’.
