The dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been announced and this time the elections will be conducted in seven phases. The first phase of voting will be held on April 13 and the last phase on June 1. After voting, counting of votes will take place on June 4. The Election Commission has released the complete schedule. Voting will be held in all seven phases for the Lok Sabha seats of some states of the country like Bihar, Bengal and UP. Voting will be held for 102 seats in the first phase, 89 in the second phase, 94 in the third phase, 96 in the fourth phase, 49 in the fifth phase, 57 in the sixth phase and 57 seats in the seventh phase.
Leaders and workers will have to pay special attention to this, the Election Commission has issued 10 guidelines.
What are these guidelines, know
1. No place for hate speech – The Election Commission has issued guidelines stating that there is no place for hate speech in elections. If any leader or activist uses hate speech, strict action will be taken against them.
2. Action on money power- The Election Commission has said that strict action will be taken regarding money power in the elections. If a leader or his workers use money power secretly, then it is not good for him. For this we have contacted the investigating agencies.
3. Those spreading fake news will not fare well – The Commission has said that if anyone is caught spreading any kind of fake news on social media or media during the elections, then strict action will be taken against them. The Commission has said that we have also prepared a setup to identify fake news.
4. Will have to explain why tickets were given to those with criminal records – The Election Commission has said that political parties will have to explain why they gave tickets to leaders with criminal records. For this, political parties will have to advertise in newspapers and TV channels.
5. Star campaigners will not make personal attacks – The Election Commission has said that star campaigners of all parties will avoid making personal attacks on each other. If they do this then the Commission can take action against them. The Commission says that elections should be based on issues.
6. Will not use pictures of children – The Election Commission has told political parties that they cannot use small children in their campaigns in any way. The Election Commission says that strict action will be taken against those doing such things.
7. Action on giving wrong advertisements- The Election Commission has said that if any political party tries to give wrong advertisements, strict action will be taken against it.
8. Do not talk about caste and religion – The Election Commission has said that political parties should not talk about caste and religion during election campaign. Election campaign should unite everyone, not divide everyone.
9. Do not defame rivals on social media – The Commission has given directions to all parties not to post defamatory posts on any leader and its candidates on social media. Strict action will be taken if this happens.
10. Give right advice to the organization – The Election Commission has asked the political parties to give right advice to their organizations. The Commission has said that all parties should also keep the functioning of the organization transparent.
