A 21-year-old man stabbed his wife to death and left her body in his car in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi. The accused has been identified as Gautam and was caught by a police officer patrolling the area while he was trying to flee, officials said on Monday. The two had a love marriage four months ago.
According to the police, Gautam was roaming half naked in suspicious circumstances late at night. Then at 1:20 am, Head Constable Ajay posted at Khyala Police Station caught him and when he was questioned, the incident was revealed. On being questioned, Gautam told that he had killed his wife Manya (20) and left her body in the car.
An officer said that the matter was investigated and interrogation continued after which Gautam, a resident of Raghubir Nagar, told the police that he had married Manya in March without the consent of his family. The officer said that even after marriage, they were living with their respective families and met occasionally.
On Sunday night, Gautam came in a car to meet Manya in Titarpur in Rajouri Garden area. Another police officer said, ‘At around 11 pm, Manya insisted that both of them should live together and they had an argument in the car over this matter.’ Gautam stabbed Manya several times with a knife.
The officer said that when he realized that she was dead, he parked the car near the red light of Shivaji College and was trying to escape, when Head Constable Ajay caught him. The officer said that a case of murder has been registered at Rajouri Garden police station and whatever the accused has said is being verified.
