Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Brunei on Tuesday morning. Earlier, he said, “We are celebrating 40 years of our diplomatic relations. I am looking forward to my meetings with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other members of the royal family, so that our historical relations can be taken to new heights.” This is the first bilateral visit of an Indian PM to Brunei. PM Modi has gone to Brunei at the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is the second longest reigning king in the world after Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is also known for his immense wealth and luxurious lifestyle. According to the report, he has the world’s largest private car collection, which is worth around $5 billion. The Sultan’s net worth is around $30 billion which is earned from the country’s oil and gas reserves. Bolkiah has a collection of more than 7 thousand luxurious vehicles, out of which 600 are Rolls-Royce cars. This figure is also recorded in the Guinness World Record.
Luxurious palace apart from car collection
According to The Sun report, the Sultan of Brunei’s car collection includes about 450 Ferraris and 380 Bentleys. He also has luxury vehicles like Porsche, Lamborghini, Maybach, Jaguar, BMW and McLaren. Bolkiah’s vehicles include a Bentley Dominator SUV which costs around $80 million. He also has a priceless car like Porsche 911. The Sultan bought a custom gold-coated Rolls-Royce for the wedding of his daughter Princess Majedah in 2007. Apart from this, the Istana Nurul Iman Palace in which the Sultan lives is the largest residential palace in the world. It is included in the Guinness World Records. This luxurious palace is spread over 2 million square feet which is decorated with 22 carat gold.
