Mallikarjun Kharge was seen defending the comments made on PM Modi in Parliament.
He asked Jagdeep Dhankhar why some parts of his speech were expunged from the record.
‘Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also used a word against Narasimha.’

New Delhi. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge told Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar that the comments he made were not unparliamentary. He asked Dhankhar why parts of his speech on Prime Minister Narendra Modi were expunged from the records of Parliament. He said that the incident comes a day after a similar action was taken against his party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Kharge said in the Rajya Sabha, ‘I do not think that there was anything unparliamentary or accusatory against anyone in my speech. But some words were misinterpreted. If you had any doubts, you could have asked in another way. But you asked to remove my words at six places. He said, ‘Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sahib had used a word against Narasimha Rao ji and that word is still on record.’

Dhankhar tried to pacify the Congress chief by saying, ‘The Speaker is the last savior of the Leader of the Opposition.’ At the same time, the opposition has accused the government of censoring its statements in Parliament. The opposition has said that the removal of Rahul Gandhi’s comments means they cannot be reproduced in any form by the media. This has given rise to a big controversy.

It may be known that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, while talking to the media while going to Parliament before PM Modi’s statement on Wednesday, asked, ‘Why were my words taken out.’ Even while leaving the Parliament, he had said that the Prime Minister had failed to answer the questions raised a day earlier. Rahul Gandhi said that I asked him simple questions about his relationship with billionaire Gautam Adani. He did not answer them, it reveals the truth.
