The noose is tightening around CM Mamata Banerjee’s party MLA Sudipto Roy in the Kolkata government hospital RG tax scam case. ED officials have raided his house. Earlier, CBI officials had questioned Roy in the RG tax rape and murder case.
Sudipto Roy, MLA from Srirampur assembly constituency, is also a doctor. Earlier on Friday, a team of CBI officials reached Roy’s residence in Sinthi area on the northern outskirts of Kolkata on Friday afternoon and questioned him in connection with the investigation of the case.
On the other hand, the fifth round of talks took place between the protesting junior doctors and CM Mamata Banerjee in the case of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. Mamata Banerjee has agreed to most of the five-point demands. Mamata has accepted the demand to remove the top officials of the state health department, including the Kolkata Police Commissioner. After the meeting with Mamata, the protesters say that the protest will continue until all the demands are met.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the RG Kar rape-murder case on Tuesday. The protesters said that “the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal is our moral victory.” They also said that they will hold a meeting after the hearing on Tuesday and decide on their “work stoppage” and protest.
