Man arrested for abetting wife’s suicide in Maharashtra

Thane (Maharashtra). A 39-year-old man has been arrested for abetting his wife’s suicide in Maharashtra’s Thane city. A police officer gave this information on Wednesday. He told that the wife of the accused was working as a hero in the police department. Hours after the woman allegedly committed suicide, her husband was arrested late Tuesday evening. The accused, Vijay Dagdu Zaine, has been arrested for mentally and physically torturing his wife, a Srinagar police station official said.

According to the officer, the accused had doubts about the character of his wife over which the two often quarreled. “34-year-old Anita Wawhal, posted as Police Nayak in Srinagar Police Station under Wagle Estate Division, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan there on Tuesday afternoon,” the police officer said. She had come to her workplace at around 10.30 in the morning.”

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wagale Estate Division) Jayant Bajbale, the accused was arrested based on the complaint of the woman’s brother. Vijay and Anita got married 16 years ago. He has two daughters.
