Supreme Court: In the defamation case of Manish Sisodia, a mixed verdict has come from the Supreme Court for BJP leaders. The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of MP Manoj Tiwari but has given relief to MLA Vijender Gupta. Sisodia has filed a defamation case against both of them in the lower court.
Both had challenged the summons issued by the court in the case. This order means that Tiwari will have to face trial in the lower court. There will be no trial against Vijender Gupta. Both the BJP leaders had leveled allegations against Sisodia over the alleged scam in the construction of school buildings in Delhi. Sisodia had filed a defamation suit regarding this. On 28 November 2019, the lower court, accepting the case, issued summons to both of them.

Supreme Court had stayed the order of the High Court
Manoj Tiwari and Vijender Gupta had demanded the Delhi High Court to quash the case, but in December, 2020, the High Court rejected the demand of BJP leaders. Last year, while listening to the appeal of BJP leaders, the Supreme Court had stayed the order of the High Court. The matter was debated last month. On September 22, Justice S. A bench of Abdul Nazeer and V. Ramasubramaniam had reserved the verdict after hearing both the sides.
