‘Married by hiding name, even called Maulvi for religious conversion’, accused arrested

The accused Naved has been arrested by the police.

Ghaziabad: In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a man has been accused of marrying a Hindu woman by hiding his identity. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested a 35-year-old man from Chhabra Colony of Ghaziabad. Giving information about this, the police said on Tuesday that on the complaint of a woman, a person named Ricky alias Naved has been arrested. Naved is accused of marrying a 30-year-old Hindu woman by hiding his identity and giving a fake name.

‘Naved’s relatives tortured him for dowry’

According to the police, the woman has said in her complaint that soon after the marriage, Naved’s mother Gulnaz, brother-in-law Javed and two others, resident of Timarpur Colony, North Delhi, started harassing her for dowry. Shalimar Garden’s Additional Police Commissioner (ACP) Suryabali Maurya said that an FIR was registered in this case after receiving the woman’s complaint on Monday. In her complaint, the woman told the police that on November 2, Naved along with his two associates reached her ancestral house in Chhabra Colony of Shalimar Garden police station area and threatened to kill her and her mother.

‘Naved had also called Maulvi for religious conversion’

The woman alleged in her complaint that Naved again reached her maternal home on Monday and assaulted her. The woman also alleged that Naved threatened to kill her if she did not convert to Islam and had also called a Maulvi to convert her. ACP Maurya said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by the woman, a case has been registered against Naved, Gulnaz, Javed and 2 others. He said that Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act has also been invoked in the FIR and the matter is being investigated. (Language)
