Minimum temperature reaches 3.6 degrees in Amritsar, dense fog alert in 5 states

Weather Forecast Today: Snowfall in the hilly states is causing severe winter in the plains. The chill has increased due to falling temperature in all the states of North India. Along with this, dense fog is also being seen at many places in the morning. According to the information given by the Meteorological Department on X handle (formerly Twitter), there will be dense fog in the morning in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Assam, Meghalaya for the next five days. The Meteorological Department says that there is no hope of respite from the dense fog from Tuesday to December 21.

There will be no respite from cold from these states

The Meteorological Department said that during the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures of 5-10 degrees Celsius were recorded in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, UP, Delhi, North West Rajasthan, North Chhattisgarh, West Bihar, Madhya Pradesh. The minimum temperature here is likely to fall further in the next 2-3 days. The minimum temperature recorded in Amritsar, Punjab during the last 24 hours was 3.6 degrees. The weather will remain like this here even today. The minimum temperature recorded in Bareilly, UP was 5-8 degrees, which is the lowest in the entire state. The minimum temperature was 6.4 degrees recorded in Rewa and Umaria of Madhya Pradesh.

Rain alert in Tamil Nadu

Extremely heavy rainfall was recorded at 39 places in southern Tamil Nadu during the last 24 hours. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall was observed over Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts and light to moderate rainfall was observed at most places over southern Tamil Nadu, the IMD said in a bulletin. It said there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi districts on December 19.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

The minimum temperature in the national capital Delhi on Monday was recorded at 7.1 degrees Celsius, one degree below the average temperature of this season. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky on Tuesday and mist or light fog in the morning. The department said that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be 22 and six degrees Celsius respectively. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the very poor category.

The torture of winter continues in Kashmir

Severe winter continues in Jammu and Kashmir. Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus eight degrees Celsius and was the coldest place at night in the valley. Meteorologists have predicted dry weather in the valley in the next few days.

Cold wave continues in Rajasthan

The effect of cold is increasing in some parts of Rajasthan, the minimum temperature in Fatehpur, Sikar last night was 3.9 degrees Celsius. Along with this, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.2 degrees Celsius in Sangaria (Hanumangarh) of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may remain like this for the next 24 hours.

Cold wave havoc in Odisha

Cold wave continues to wreak havoc across Odisha and the temperature has dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal district and Kirei in Sundargarh district recorded a minimum temperature of eight degrees Celsius, the IMD said. The Meteorological Department said that there will be no major change in night temperatures across Odisha in the next four to five days. At the same time, IMD expressed the possibility of fog in some parts of the state till 8.30 am on Tuesday.
