Mir Jafar vs Jaichand: Mir Jafar told Rahul Gandhi, in return told BJP the party of Jaichand, do you know them?

New Delhi: Parliament stalled over Rahul Gandhi’s statement in London. BJP has bluntly said – Rahul will have to apologise. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told the BJP’s resolution in a press conference on Tuesday. He compared Rahul Gandhi to Mir Jafar, a villain in Indian history. Said, just as Mir Jafar joined East India Company to become Nawab, similarly Rahul Gandhi is seeking help from foreign countries to become Prime Minister. Patra said, ‘This prince wants to become the Nawab, so he is seeking help from the East India Company. Rahul Gandhi is today’s Mir Jafar. The statement of the BJP spokesperson drew an equally strong reaction from the Congress. Mir Jafar was answered by Jaichand. Spokesperson Pawan Kheda took charge on behalf of the party. Responding to Patra, Pawan said, “BJP will be remembered in history as the party of Jaichands.” He claimed that the people on whose ideology BJP runs, were about to apologize to the British. So let’s talk about both of them today – Mir Jafar and Jaichand.

Who was Mir Jafar?

First talk of Mir Jafar. The students of history must know, but the rest of the new generation hardly knows who was Mir Jafar? However, in the age of social media, the flow of variety of information is immense. For this reason, if the story of Mir Jafar has been known somewhere, on some occasion, then it is okay, otherwise most of the people would be unaware. In such a situation, if the ruling party BJP mentions Mir Jafar, then it becomes necessary to know about him. In fact, Mir Jafar is remembered as a traitor who switched sides at the last moment in the Battle of Plassey. Siraj-ud-daulah, the Nawab of Bengal, was facing the East India Company. The company was trying to establish its foothold in the Indian subcontinent, but the Nawab was the biggest obstacle in its path.

How about facing the Nawab with a handful of army? British commander Robert Clive was trying to find the answer to this question. He sent spies to Bengal. It was learned that the ambitions of the Nawab’s commander Mir Jafar were running high. He himself wants to become Nawab. What was just Clive got the answer to his question. He sent a message to Mir Jafar – You support us, we will support you. It was decided that Siraj-ud-daulah had to be removed from the throne. The British invaded Bengal in June 1757. Bengal was surrounded by threats from the Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Durrani from the north and the Marathas from the west. Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah was taken aback by the sudden attack of the British. Leaving enough army in the north and west, he went to compete with the British with some pieces. The Nawab’s army encamped at Plassey, about 27 miles from Murshidabad. On June 23, 1757, the battle between the two armies started. In front of the bravery of Nawab’s soldiers Mir Madan and Mohanlal, the feet of the British army started uprooting. The English soldiers were helpless to save their lives by hiding behind the trees. That’s why Mir Madan got a goal and he got Veergati.

The Nawab’s army suffered a major setback due to the death of Mir Madan. The Nawab called a meeting for consultation. Commander Mir Jafar suggested, stop the fight now and go back to the camp. On the suggestion of the commander, the Nawab called back the soldiers from the battlefield. Mir Jafar’s strategy worked. The Nawab’s army was returning to the camp, when Mir Jafar secretly reached Robert Clive. He said to Clive – the work is done. According to Jafar, Clive got the Nawab’s returning army attacked. Nawab’s army was not aware of this, so the soldiers could not understand anything and ran here and there. Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah had understood after seeing the situation that he had been betrayed. He escaped from the eyes of Mir Jafar and Robert Clive.

On July 2, 1757, Siraj-ud-daulah was hanged on the orders of Mir Miran, son of Mir Jafar. At that time Sirajuddaulah was only 24 years old. The place where Siraj-ud-daulah was hanged is still called ‘Namak Haram ki Deyodhi’. Look at the extent of Mir Jafar’s salt abuse – the next day young Siraj-ud-daulah’s dead body was paraded all over Murshidabad by keeping it on hand.

Now let’s talk about Jaichand. Jaichand’s story is a bit different. King Jaichand Rathore of Kannauj was the ruler of the Gahadwal dynasty. His daughter was Sanyogita, who was abducted from Swayamvar by Prithviraj Chauhan, the king of Delhi. The love story of Prithviraj and Sanyogita is famous in history. A claim is also made that this love story deepened the enmity between Prithviraj and Jaichand. Prithviraj was the son of King Someshwar of Ajmer. His mother was the daughter of Raja Anangpal Tomar of Delhi. Anangpal had no son. For this reason, he demanded Prithviraj from his son-in-law. In this way Prithviraj took over the throne of Nana and became the king of Delhi. This thing is from the 12th century. At the same time Mohammad Ghori of Afghanistan had occupied Punjab.

History is the witness that Prithviraj Chauhan defeated Ghori 16 times in different battles. Then in 1192 AD, both of them faced each other for the 17th time in the battle of Tarain. This time the dice turned and Prithviraj lost. It is said that angry Jaichand did not support Prithviraj in this war because of taking away his daughter Sanyogita. However, a claim is made that Jaichand had assured Mohammad Ghori that he would not side with Prithviraj this time. That is, Jaichand is held responsible for attacking Prithviraj by calling him a traitor.

Jaichand traitor or hero?

Jaichand traitor or hero?

Prithviraj Chauhan’s royal poet Chandbardai called Jaichand a traitor, but Kanyakubj Seva Samiti, an organization of Kannauj, has been inviting people from all over the world for the last several years that a reward will be given for proving Jaichand a traitor. In the year 2005, a reward amount of Rs 51 thousand was announced, which has increased to Rs 5 lakh. Dr. Omji Upadhyay, director of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), the country’s largest research organization on history, had also said last year that there is no documentary evidence in history that Jaichand had invited Ghori to attack. Colonel Tod, who has done the most work on the history of Rajputs, has also made no mention of Jaichand’s betrayal. At the same time, an NCERT book also says that Jaichand was in reality a hero, who gave his life while fighting Ghori’s army. Actually, Ghori won Delhi by defeating Prithviraj and moved towards Kannauj, then there was a war between Jaichand and his army near Etawah. Jaichand attained martyrdom. If Ghori had got the support of Jaichand, then why would both fight?
