On August 17, a group of about 50 Shiv devotees left for Haridwar to take the Dak Kanwad from Shivala temple of Chakouri village. On Monday morning, the group was returning to the village with the Kanwad. A DJ was playing in front of the group. According to Rajkumar Singh Chauhan, a resident of Chakouri who was leading the group, as soon as the Kanwadias reached the Bawankhedi depot at around 6 am, many people of the other community standing there blocked their way by placing their bikes and e-rickshaws. They said that they will not let the Kanwad with DJ pass through a village dominated by a particular religion. An argument started from both sides regarding this matter.
It is alleged that many villagers of Bawankhedi present on the spot also raised slogans in support of Pakistan. On protest, they beat up the Shiv bhakts. After this, a ruckus started and the Shiv bhakts blocked the Amroha road. SDM Sunita Kumari, CO Deep Kumar Pant, Tehsildar Musaram along with the police force of Naugawan Sadat, Amroha Circle of the district also reached the spot. The Shiv bhakts said that the accused should be arrested immediately and a report should be filed against them. The police arrested one accused in a hurry. After about two hours, the Shiv bhakts opened the blockade and proceeded towards their destination while taking out the Kanwad with DJ from the middle of the village. On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, due to the road being blocked for two hours continuously, pedestrians and drivers had to face a lot of trouble.
In this case, CO Deep Kumar Pant said that on the complaint of Rajkumar, resident of village Chakouri, a report has been registered under relevant sections against former village head of village Bawankhedi, Furkan alias Boba, Firoz Khan son of Naushe Khan, Rashid son of Noor Mohammad, Sajid son of Mianjan, Shakeel son of unknown and 20-25 unknown people.
