Hindi film industry veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has shared this information in a post on social media platform X. He will be given this award during the 70th National Film Award Ceremony to be held on 8 October 2024.
Will be honored for his contribution to cinema
Sharing this information, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav wrote, “Mithun da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires many generations. “It is an honor to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided that legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored for his contribution to Indian cinema.”

Got National Award for first film
Mithun has done more than 350 films in his 48 years of career. He created a stir in the Hindi film industry as soon as he arrived. In fact, he was awarded the National Award for Best Actor (Male) for his first film ‘Mrigaya’ (1976). Not only this, he has been honored with the Padma Bhushan Award in April 2024.
