More than 100 seats and CM post too, why Congress’s wishes increased in Maharashtra

Seat sharing in MVA i.e. Mahavikas Aghadi has not been decided yet, but there is speculation that Congress is eyeing the post of Chief Minister of the state. However, the party has not said anything officially regarding this. Many leaders have already indicated this before. Also, there are less chances that the Congress high command will agree on less than 100 seats. The special thing is that in the year 2019, the party could not prepare alliance partners even for the post of Deputy CM.

Was the morale boosted by the Lok Sabha?

According to the Indian Express report, insiders say that Congress is eyeing the maximum number of seats and the post of CM in the assembly elections. In fact, in the Lok Sabha elections held in June, Congress had contested 17 seats and won 13. At the same time, partner party Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 21 and won 9 seats. Whereas, the Nationalist Congress Party (SP), which contested 10 seats, won 8 out of 10 seats. Apart from these, independent MP from Sangli Vishal Prakashbabu Patil had also supported Congress.

The newspaper quoted sources as saying that Congress leaders were confident that if they were successful in giving results, then their side would be strong in the distribution of tickets for the assembly elections. According to the report, a party leader said, ‘Congress has a strong support base in Maharashtra. If regional leaders see a good future, they can deliver results.

How many seats does Congress want?

The report quoted MVA sources as saying that Congress is preparing for 110-115 seats out of 288. The party is in favor of leaving 90-95 seats for Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and 80-85 seats for NCP (SP). Although the number of seats has not been finalized yet, sources have told the newspaper that the chances of the party high command agreeing to less than 100 seats are slim.

leaders are giving signals

Congress has been telling its alliance partners that the CM face will not be announced before the elections, but somehow the state leaders are giving such indications. Only two weeks ago, Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat had said that the next CM will be from Congress. At the same time, during a program in Nagpur, State President Nana Patole was described as the next CM of the state by many leaders.

Uddhav may get a shock

Uddhav Thackeray had reached Delhi in August itself for seat sharing. It is being said that he wanted around 100 seats. According to the report, it is believed that Congress gave a presentation about the strength of every party in Maharashtra, according to which the chances of Shiv Sena (UBT) getting more seats are less.
