More than 25 percent of Agniveers will remain in the army, salary may increase; These big changes are expected in the Agnipath scheme

Agniveer: The government may soon give a big gift to the Agniveers who are preparing to join the army. It is reported that the limit for retaining Agniveers in the army can be increased after a period of 4 years. According to the current rules, 25 percent of Agniveers remain in service. However, nothing has been said officially about this. Apart from this, there can be many changes in the Agneepath scheme. The government had announced the Agneepath scheme in the year 2022.

India Today’s report quoted defence sources as saying that the government is planning some changes in the Agnipath scheme. Under this, more Agniveers will be retained in the army. There may also be changes in their salary. At present, the Defence Ministry has not issued an official statement. It is being said that changes can be made to improve the benefits and system of the schemes.

The report quoted senior officials of the Defense Ministry as saying that discussions are going on to increase the limit for retaining Agniveers in service. After this, more Agniveers who have completed four years of service will be able to remain a part of the army. Currently, this figure is 25 percent. It is being said that military experts believe that the limit of retaining 25 percent is not enough.

Talking to the channel, a source said, ‘The number of Agniveers to be retained is very less to maintain the fighting strength on the ground.’ He said, ‘The army has recommended that the number of Agniveers to be retained in service after four years should be increased to 50 percent.’ It is reported that the army has submitted its recommendations to the government in this regard. An internal survey was also conducted regarding this. However, top defense officials say that the process may take some time.

Agneepath Scheme

In the year 2022, the government had announced the Agneepath scheme. Under the scheme, Agniveers were to be appointed in all three military services (water, land and air) for four years. 25 percent of the total appointments of Agniveers in a year were to get permanent commission.
