More than 80 percent voting in Haryana Panchayat elections, clashes in some places, many people injured

Haryana Panchayat Election 2022: In the second phase of Panchayat elections in nine districts of Haryana, more than 80 percent voting took place on Saturday, November 12. Voting took place between 7 am and 6 pm. Elections were held for the posts of 2,683 sarpanches and 25,655 panches in 57 blocks of Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa and Sonipat districts.

Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh said that the polling was peaceful. However, reports of violence have been received from some areas. He told that 80.6 percent people exercised their franchise. The news of three people getting injured in a clash between two opposition groups in Fatehgarh village of Nissing block of Karnal came to the fore. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Clashes also took place in Ambala.
A person was also injured in a clash between two groups in Jansua village of Ambala who was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Ambala city. Similarly, clashes were reported in one village each in Rohtak and Rewari. Officials said that there were 48,67,132 registered voters for the second phase of polling. In these nine districts, the second phase of polling for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti was held on November 9.

In the first phase, elections were held on October 30 for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis in Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar, and on November 2, elections were held to elect sarpanches and panches.

In the rest of the districts, the third and final phase of polling will be held on November 22 to elect members of Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis, and on November 25 for the posts of sarpanches and panches of gram panchayats. At the end of voting in each phase, the election results of Sarpanch and Panches will be announced, while the results of the election of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be announced on November 27 after the completion of all three phases of voting.
